Protests and Demostration in Spain Defending Bilingual Education

Almost 3000 people from all over Spain, especially from Catalonia and the Basque Country, met by appointment in Santiago (Galicia) defend and fight for Spanish citizens to have access to a bilingual Education in the country’s various regions.

The demonstration, organized by the "Bilingual Galicia" group took place a few months ago, when the election period was in full swing, which beought Zapatero to visit the region and enphasize his support in favour of defending Spain’s linguistic and cultural diversity. The demonstraters clashed with a group of 250 Independent Nationalists, causing a violent outbreak among the demonstrators and the police who were on site as well.
