MiUR: Presenting Projects for the Italian language? Yes, but in English!
The Radicals interviewed the Minister. On the 13th of February, Maurizio Turco, of the Rose in the Fist, interviewed to the Minister of University and Research on the competition that has been inducted by MiUR in order to present projects relative to the fulfilment of tasks in the language fields. To all those interested in the competition that has been inducted «to define and create a ‘depository’ intelligence of digital content in order to support the spread of the Italian language and culture abroad, in which the number one aim would be to give life to recuperating the relationship between Italian language and culture on behalf of the second and third generation Italians,» it’s required that the projects be presented in the Enfglish language: if they are not, the project will not be protocoled, blocking the entity itself from participating in the competition.
The Hon. Turco questioned based on the article of a law or other document, the MiUR requires that the entity participating in an Italian competition must compete in the English language, and, considering the aim of the Ministry for University and Research claim that the initiative is in favour of the Italian language and culture. How is it possible that, among all of the MiUR staff, there isn’t anyone capable of translating the word “repository” in to Italian, a term included in the very competition, to assure that everyone (even those who don’t know the English language) fully understands the content.
