How to do a "Project esperanto" on Equal Opportunity without Ever Mentioning the Language of Equality
Notice by Giorgio Pagano – Radicals/ERA
When a topic is tabu, it is everything except discussed. This is the case with the Esperanto language. The latest humorous paradox is born thanks to the Happy Time Association,
which calls its project "Project Esperanto." The project is about an equal-rights video competition. There is nothing comical about this initiative, but how is it plausabile that an
"Esperanto" equal rights project does make any reference to the Esperanto language, not to mention the fact that it’s born for the need to establish equal language opportunities?
It is like creating a "Project kangaroo" in Australia without including at least a picture of the kangaroo. The difference is that everybody KNOWS what a kangaroo looks like, but
few are aware of Esperanto, and this is due to entities, like the Happy Time Association, who give birth to noble and shareable themes, but doing so calling itself "Happy Time" in
English, paying duty to the colonial monolingualism and therefore silences everyone, borrowing the name as well.
