Cultural Comission at the Room of Deputies, Wednesday, 08 Feb., 15.00.
Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the "Esperanto" Radical Association was received by the Cultural Commission earlier today at the Chamber of Deputies to speak about the parlimental debate on the 5714 and 6065 law Proposals on the teaching of Esperanto.
At the hearing, face to face with a series of parlimentaries, including Gabriella Carlucci, and presided by te Hon. Scardino of Forza Italia. Lapo Orlandi and Ranieri Clerici also spoke breifly during the hearinf. Giorgio Pagano, reminded that as revent legal passages made by the Minister Moratti have made it so that the teaching of a second European Community language has been cancelled in favour of the English language, practically adopted as the State’s second language, risking a number of consequences for thousands of precarious employees and other European-language teachers, not to mention the inevitable dilution of the Italian language.
English is not and it will never be a socially-friendly language, a common good, it will instead always allow discrimination between the mother tongue language and the rest: this has been proved by grin’s essay, published in France by the High Council of School Evalution.. The transfer of resources from European countries to the United Kingdom pile up annualy to a sum of 18 billion Euros a year, without counting the great energy and time that our young dedicate to learning the language. The Anglophones coninue expanding in informatics and, most of all, in the business world.
It’s therefore essential that the current policies be re-elaborated, on a national as well as on a European level, in order not to become a future colony. This is how Bretton Woods gave way to the currency system which consents the regular international language exchange that we are currently witnessing, which may be to my advantage but not necessarily to anyone else’s.
When it comes to linguistic issues, Esperanto allows a transposition withing the Community method. It is nothing more than an auxilary language in the European Community Enviroment, the European methid applied to overturn linguistic hegemony. This can be done by applying a language that is equal on a national and civil standard and is an inter-european tool of communication that can co-exist with our national languages.
Towards the end of the meeting, Hon. Colasio, of Margheritya, underlined the pertenance and the importance of the issues that were raised, hoping that the debate could be continued immediately after the political elections, with a predicted time window to be set at a legislative meeeting that will be significant and hopefully victorious.
