Europe: Italy is out! How English-only politics brings a country to Suicide
Statement by Giorgio Pagano, Secretary of the Esperanto Radical Association
We’ve been supporting multilinguism for longer than 20 years now, as the European Union should have been doing, it has instead gained and oligolopy and from this, an English-speaking monopoly, allowing concrete privileges by birth for English mothertongues. For over twenty we have been battling for European linguistic federalism, one language for all; that is Esperanto, and the freedom to choose whichever ethnic language of interest and be able to learn by choice and not by obbligation. Today, we entered phase two, after the Justice Court of Luxemburg ruled against the italians who had asked for the annulment of two competitions because they had been publised only in English, French and german on the ‘Official Journal of the European Union,’: the oligolopy phase. Thanks to English-Only policies, closely linked to the League’s seperation, we will soon find ourselves in the ‘final solution’ phase: the english-speaking monopoly in Europe and in Italy, which will destroy the only thing us Italians have left to unite us as people, that is the Italian language.
